Dusk Dances is an outdoor dance festival that brings high quality contemporary and traditional dance to public parks. As dusk descends, a theatrical host leads the audience - which invariably includes children, dog walkers and local residents - to eclectic dance pieces that unfold in different areas of the park.
Choreographers from various backgrounds are invited to perform a ten (10)-minute piece inspired by the park’s natural environment. Audiences are invited on a pay-what-you-can basis to an innovative site-specific festival, which is not only an artistic event but a social and cultural one as well. 2019 will mark Dusk Dances’ 25th anniversary and the season is programmed by Festival Director Sylvie Bouchard.

*If you are proposing an excerpt of a longer work, please submit the full-length video, and identify the section (s) that you plan to remount (include time code markers).

Choreographers can apply to adapt an existing piece to a park environment. If you are applying in this category, please include the piece you would like to remount in your support material.
Choreographers can also apply for the commission of a new work. If you are applying in this category, please include as much information as you can in your piece description (number of dancers, music, site, theme, etc.) Please note that it is always preferable to include a variety of pieces in your support material. This allows us to get to know you as a choreographer.

We encourage you to see the event before applying, and to let curator Sylvie Bouchard know about your upcoming performances.
If you would like to apply as an opening band, or opening group (live music and dance), please send us support material as well as a description of your proposed half an hour opening act.
