Dusk Dances’ licensing Initiative
Dusk Dances Inc. is the lead recipient of a three-year Ontario Trillium Foundation grant (2010 to 2012) to pilot a new model of presentation, one that builds on our 18 years of experience and allows Dusk Dances to be presented, beyond Toronto and Ontario. We see this endeavor as the last step in our search for a model that allows for capacity building and sustainability in the communities with whom we work. With the Dusk Dances Licensing Initiative, local organizations learn how to produce a Dusk Dances event in their community.
This new initiative focuses on:
- building regional and local capacity
- bringing dance into the lap of communities
- engaging local artists
- building bridges between artists, communities and audience members
- strengthening existing capacity for Dusk Dances Inc.
2010 was a very successful first year, in which our first Dusk Dances licensed events were launched in Haliburton and Flesherton. In 2011, Ottawa was added as a third Ontario licensee, and in 2012, Peterborough joins us as our fourth licensed Ontario community.
