Become A Licensee
Dusk Dances Inc. was the lead recipient of a three-year Ontario Trillium Foundation grant (2010 to 2012) to pilot a new model of presentation, one that allows Dusk Dances to be presented, by community partners, beyond Toronto. The Dusk Dances Licensing Initiative is a licensing model whereby Dusk Dances licenses its name and format to community partners. This model builds capacity and sustainability in rural and regional communities, while at the same time strengthening the existing capacity for Dusk Dances Inc. With the licensing of Dusk Dances, local organizations learn how to produce a Dusk Dances event in their community.
Dusk Dances Inc. provides:
- three to four (3-4) 10-minute touring works from the Dusk Dances repertoire of dance pieces (Dusk Dances will pay all artist fees and remount costs)
- travel, accommodation and per diem for all performing artists and crew
- overall timelines and scheduling
- a Technical Director
- a Stage and Production Manager
- a Volunteer Coordinator
- a host
- all marketing materials (design and printing)
- program booklet design
- Dusk Dances head office administration and support (including access to a variety of template documents).
Through direct consultation with the Festival Director, each licensee partner is responsible for:
- programming one or two local dance piece(s)
- programming an opening band
- paying fees to the local piece(s) and the opening band
- printing of the program
- marketing material distribution
- advertisements
- providing 6-8 volunteers per performance and 3 volunteers for the dress rehearsal
- providing two technical assistants (one can be a volunteer)
- working with Dusk Dances head office administration in all planning
- paying a licensing fee
